Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Ben Carson is catching major flack for comments he made during a speech on Monday, March 6, when he referred to slaves as "immigrants."
"That's what America is about, a land of dreams and opportunity," Carson said. "There were other immigrants who came here in the bottom of slave ships, worked even longer, even harder for less. But they too had a dream that one day their sons, daughters, grandsons, granddaughters, great-grandsons, great-granddaughters, might pursue prosperity and happiness in this land."
Actor Samuel L. Jackson couldn't believe what he had heard. He tore into Carson via his Twitter account.
OK!! Ben Carson....I can't! Immigrants? In the bottom of SLAVE SHIPS??!! MUTHAFUKKA PLEASE!!!#dickheadedtom," Jackson wrote.
There were a lot more negative reactions. Check out some of them below.
