WTH....Time Magazine Picks Jeremy Lin For The New Cover Just After Five Games, But Kobe Bryant has never been on the cover of Time. - Details Inside

Time Magazine hit newsstands this week with the U.S. cover featuring Kim Jong Un, the young newly crowned leader of North Korea, who Time dubs Lil’ Kim. The same cover appeared in Europe and the South Pacific. But in Asia, the phenomenon known as Linsanity took the cover with Kim Jong Un relegated to the inside of the mag. Yes, Jeremy Lin after starting a grand total of five games for the New York Knicks made the cover of Time.

Lin, of course, made the cover of Sports Illustrated this week. He made the non-swimsuit edition at least with the swimsuit issue featuring a curvier Kate Upton. SI makes sense, but Time? Is Linsanity really that big?

Kobe Bryant has never been on the cover of Time. Same goes for Derek Jeter, Peyton Manning and just about every other active athlete in professional sports today. LeBron James made the cover as part of Time’s preview of the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. The Olympics are one of the only times that Time puts a sports subject on the cover with Bode Miller, Michael Johnson (twice) and Carl Lewis making the cut.

I won't even question Lin his talet. But this shows again how crazy the media has become.

As soon as someone gets a bit of a buzz... they jump on him/her like nothing else matters no more !!

Those ppl get elevated upon a throne. And they milk as much money as they can outta them. But when a new face pops up, that 1st person slides away into darkness and is all forgotten about....

I think people should start looking into Mayweather's words concerning Lin.

I think think Lin as a good chance if he can keep it up... he was a nobody that came and became a relevant player in the NBA which is hard as fuck. Ans he has changed a franchise totally around that would be to me MVO and I'd New York gets to the 2 nd round of the okay offs he should get MVP.....

Lin has a better story to tell than Kobe does. Kobe's dad was an NBA player, he was groomed for the NBA. It's nothing personal here, Lin's story is worth reading about. Why are people taking this so serious? Let this kid shine because no matter what he does from this day on he will never be Kobe, Derek Jeter, or any other high profile athlete. Has any of those high profile athletes been on that HBO Bryant Gumbel show? It's all about Lin's story and that is it.

What he's doing is nothing new but it only takes one media outlet to get it all rolling.  He's skilled no doubt but so are all the others that put up similar numbers.  Plus NBA needs a feel good story outside of the regular black player.  LOL  They'll ride this harder than NFL with Tim Teebow.

Lin now a super star after 5 games at end of day it all about money.

People are reading less and less so when there is a phenomenon world wide that could sell magazines, advertisers love this. Fact is, considering his story and background added to cirulation rate- they'd be remiss not  to run the story same as American magazines did the Kardashian wedding and Tebow Mania.

Give the people what they will pay for. Every unemployed tv actor that dispises reality (ha) tv will tell you is the rule of the day. Oh yeah- creativity too.

I agree with jaybird...he was on the cover in Asia not here.  For them that is a pretty big deal.  They also have different customs than us and their culture is a lot different.  meaning they have different tastes...and I'm sure they'd rather see Lin on the cover than North Korea's next prez...positivity over negativity people
